panna- 반야란?

팔리어로 Panna를 한문으로 그냥 음사해서 반야(槃若)라고 한 것 뿐이라고 하니...그 정확한 의미가 알고 싶은는디...Bodhi 스님은 이렇게 멋지게 해설을 해 주셨네요.

 

The pali word 'PANNA'is derived from the verbal root (NA) meaning 'to know,' preceded by the prefix PA, which merely gives the root meaning a more dynamic nuance. So PANNA means knowing or understanding, not a possesion, but as an action : the act of knowing. the act of understanding, the act of discerning.

 

늘 깨어있지 않음은 반야가 아니고,

늘 살아서 움직이는 것이 아니면 반야가 아니고

그리하여

늘 행복이 충만하지 못하면 반야가 아니라는 생각이 든다.
